The Silk Road has a deep foundation and far-reaching influence; bilateral friendship welcomed.

Separated by a narrow strip of water, Indonesia and China share a vision of mutual prosperity. As the birthplace and core hub of the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road,” Indonesia is a key strategic partner for China in ASEAN, and the two countries have established a cooperative framework of "deep integration and mutual benefit." Data shows that China has remained Indonesia’s largest trading partner and second-largest foreign investor for several consecutive years, while Indonesia’s unique geographic and resource advantages make it a key investment destination for China in ASEAN. In recent years, Chinese enterprises have invested directly in Indonesia across manufacturing, infrastructure, healthcare, and the digital economy, injecting strong momentum into the country’s economic and social development. Dr. Mo Yi’s visit aims to elevate cooperation in emerging areas to a higher and broader level, building on this established foundation.

The delegation, led by Dr. Mo Yi, was accompanied by industry elites including Deng Zhi, President and Co-founder of Xin Capital Group; Philip Ting, Co-founder of Xin Capital Asia; and Michael Gao, Founder of Buffalo Capital. The delegation recently arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia. As the guest of honor, Dr. Mo Yi received special courtesy and a formal welcome from local officials. This sincere and friendly reception demonstrates the Indonesian government's high regard for the event and marks the beginning of the visit.

High-Level Meeting Forging Consensus, Launching a New Chapter in Strategic Cooperation.

Recently, the delegation paid a formal courtesy visit to His Excellency Bapak Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Vice President of Indonesia, at his office in Jakarta. This high-level meeting, transcending geographical boundaries, not only exemplifies the enduring friendship between China and Indonesia but also represents an important step in advancing practical cooperation between the two nations.

During the meeting, His Excellency the Vice President pointed out that China is one of Indonesia's most important partners, playing an irreplaceable and vital role in Indonesia's economic and social development. Currently, Indonesia is focusing on key tasks such as economic restructuring, infrastructure upgrading, and digital economy development, and is fully promoting the "Golden Indonesia 2045" vision. This aligns perfectly with China's strategic directions of "high-quality development" and "dual-carbon" goals. He expressed his hope that Chinese enterprises will continue to increase their investment in Indonesia, sharing development opportunities and promoting mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.

Dr. Mo Yi responded that China and Indonesia are closely connected both geographically and culturally, and decades of cooperation have intertwined the two nations’ interests. Deepening friendly cooperation remains a shared aspiration. He highlighted the potential of nationwide sports to enhance public vitality, green and low-carbon initiatives as pathways for sustainable development, and digitalization as a driver for industrial upgrading... In this warm and friendly atmosphere, the potential for collaboration across these three areas was thoroughly explored, and the delegation’s approach of “technology sharing, joint project development, and market expansion” received high recognition from the Vice President.

From complementarity of resources to deep integration, and from shared visions to actionable consensus, the talks produced multiple concrete outcomes in core application areas. Witnessed by the Vice President’s Special Representative, the two sides formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a new stage of “strategic alignment and pragmatic advancement” in China–Indonesia cooperation, and establishing a key platform for coordinated government-business collaboration.

Shaping the New Capital’s Blueprint Through Dialogue, Advancing Development in Bali.

As a core national strategic project, the construction of Indonesia’s new capital, Nusantara, carries high regional development expectations and attracts international attention. Minister Basuki Hadimuljono warmly welcomed the delegation and provided detailed updates on the capital’s development. The delegation shared China’s mature experience and key strengths in smart city construction and green, low-carbon technologies, linking Belt and Road practice with global digital economic trends, and engaging in in-depth discussions on critical topics to forge industrial consensus.

Bali, as Indonesia’s cultural tourism hub and a key ecological preservation province, has urgent and distinctive needs in green development, cultural-tourism integration, and nationwide sports promotion. In discussions with Governor Ir. I Wayan Koster, Dr. Mo Yi drew on Peking University’s cutting-edge academic research and Xin Capital Group’s practical experience to provide targeted proposals on digital transformation in Bali’s cultural tourism industry, green energy development, and nationwide sports system construction.

This visit has become a vivid demonstration of aligning China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Indonesia’s “Golden Indonesia 2045” vision, injecting new vitality into the bilateral strategic partnership. Delegation members emphasized the intention to establish a regular communication and collaboration mechanism, accelerate the implementation of agreements and memoranda, and promote early results for cooperative projects. Leveraging academic and commercial resources, they aim to build diversified platforms that attract more Chinese enterprises to contribute to Indonesia’s development, forging a mutually beneficial future.

By connecting tradition with innovation along the Silk Road, and aligning strategic visions toward the future, China and Indonesia—amid global uncertainties and regional challenges—shoulder the shared mission of promoting peace and prosperity. The achievements of Dr. Mo Yi’s delegation lay a solid foundation for joint economic initiatives, shared opportunities, and strengthened bilateral trust. Both nations are poised to expand cooperation, elevate collaboration, and advance China–Indonesia relations to a new level, contributing to a closer China–ASEAN community and regional, even global, development.
